Swimming South Africa has successfully trained safeguarding officers in all affiliates. WCA is now in the process of rolling out the SSA safeguarding policy to all coaches and teachers in all districts across WCA. The training will also include athletes, parents and volunteers.

Safeguarding will be a compulsory workshop for all teachers and coaches to have as part of their accreditation under the CPD (Continuous professional development). The SSA child protection policy falls within the Safeguarding Policy, which is more preventative and empowering for all our members. be part of the code of conduct of annual registration.

We will be hosting several workshops whereby members will get a better understanding of how we can make aquatics safe by protecting all our members (Swimmers/Parents/Teacher/Officials/Coaches/Volunteers).

  • people feel safe and are protected from abuse.
  • Create an environment where young people feel
  • free to raise safeguarding concerns.
  • Protecting coaches against unfair accusations.

All workshops will be 3hr long in a classroom set-up and limited to 40 delegates per date. YES, you will receive CPD points for this by 2024/2025 all coaches/teacher will need this on their CPD record as proof of attendance.
